On April 28, 2024, Calgary eSports United announced via social media that they were changing their name to UCalgary Dinos. Recall that it all began as the UCalgary League of Legends club. It evolved under the leadership of former president Thompson Lu, current co-president and college esports program director Ryan Nguyen, and other executive committee members.
